I don't know about you, but I can't remember any drama, homework, tests or...computer lab when I was 5. Kindergarten has changed! We are very thankful that Hailey only goes 1/2 days and gets all of her work done in class. We are pleased so far with the school system. They are very structured and have a sticker/red light system so the child knows when they have misbehaved...and so does the parent.
Yep, you know where this is going.....
Hailey has done so well and the teacher always has such wonderful things to say about her being a leader, having great manners and all A+'s so far. Everyday, when I pick her up from school, she can't wait to tell me all about her day, show me her work and especially her sticker. Yesterday was the first day she came home without getting a sticker...:( She was very upset over this and obviously no one wants to disappoint their parents, teachers, etc...which we have already talked about. The teacher sent home a note explaining why she did not get a sticker and was in the yellow...needing to find her way back to the green.
Basically, a few of the kids were playing too rough on the playground and continued after being told to stop. But...Hailey's story was quit different, as a matter of fact, her story began, "well, the teacher must have forgot what really happened. I was just playing around inside and showing my friend how strong my bones were...I was not pushing anyone." And after she realized that daddy was going to call her teacher to find out the real story....her words changed to.."so what exactly will happen to me if I lie?" Thus, the truth came out which matched the story on the teacher's note. Needless to say, we hope she will not try to pull the wool over our eyes again and had a big talk about telling the truth
"The truth shall set you free." So true.
But, onto the good news...she had more tests this past week, in which she continues her reign as the A+ girl! So proud of her grades and attention in class!
They have already taken 2 field trips so far...the Layman's Family Pumpkin Farm and the Vinton Firehouse. Hailey made her own lunch bag...
Both Hailey and Lindsey have the love for books and Hailey's teacher has informed us, by January, she will be reading. With encouragement and participating in Book It this year, she has already been reading, mostly the small words, but enjoys the challenge of sounding them out and at least trying.
She decided to be a doctor/animal doctor for career day at school...our next challenge will be biblical character day at the end of October.
And it was only fair... Hailey got to dress up, Lindsey did too!
Can't believe how much the girls are growing up...piggyback rides are huge around here and they are still the best of friends...most of the time.
Next year Lindsey will be old enough to begin dance lessons and she cannot wait! She has been enjoying Hailey's lessons and watching them practice for their Christmas recital...it's gonna be soooo cute!
I had to throw in this picture of Hailey and her balloons! I will always remember her love of balloons. Balloons are one of Hailey's favorite things...give her a room of balloons and she will be the happiest girl on the planet. But, when one pops or flies up to heaven...wow, it's very traumatic! She had the bright idea of putting a sticker on one of her kroger balloons and then tried to pull it off...pop! Yeah, that was a long ride home and there is absolutely nothing that anyone could say to make her feel better. So, the next day, I surprised her with these balloons...happy to say, they are still around.
Just a random picture of the girls. I just love all the hand me downs from Hailey...adorable little ladybug raincoat, Uncle Terry & Aunt Janice gave Hailey when she turned 2.
I love creative minds, crafts and thinking outside the box...therefore I am very thankful for my mother. If you don't know, she keeps the girls while I work and needs alot of the credit for my sweet girls, their intellect and creativity. They love Pop & Mimi's garden and helping to take care of it...therefore they made a homemade scarecrow to keep the animals away....cute. I love the painters tape, the flower on the head and I think they had a little help with the face...
And speaking of faces....Hailey got a hold of my phone. It's amazing how kids just know how to operate the phones these days! Aparrently she found the camera and showed her true personality. She loves making faces...
Yep, just like daddy:)
The fall weather & weekends have been so nice. We made a little fall treat...caramel apples rolled in nuts....and they were messy & so good! Hailey approved.
Definitely required a bath after that....a glow in the dark bath that is...so fun!
