Dear Hailey,
You are my little sweet princess. I love that there is never a dull moment with you! Sometimes, I may seem a little grumpy, but that's just because I can't keep up with you. I love our nightly piggy back rides, tickle wars, reading books & making funny faces in the mirror before bedtime. By the way, you always win...you take after your daddy.
I wish I could always remember all the words to your precious "made-up" songs. Whether it be in the car or during bathtub time...I could listen to you sing forever...about anything. You literally can sing a song about one thing for 20mins and I love it! Even perfect strangers love to hear you serenade them...like the chinese delivery guy, kroger shoppers and everyone in the public restroom when you decided you would sing "Happy Birthday" to me...you received a standing ovation...trust me, I remember!
I enjoyed how you related eating your veggies to Popeye the Sailor Man and Samson (from the Bible) and yes, there was a song for that too. You have learned so many Bible verses by singing them to Mimi's video with Steve Green, especially ..."do not worry about tomorrow, but let tomorrow worry about itself..." what a great lesson! You even have a small crush on Steve, and that's okay...he's a wonderful role model.
I will always remember how much you LOVE cupcakes...they were huge this year! I think you secretly knew when they were on sale at Kroger's...or maybe your "sucker" mommy just caved to your sweet little face. The bakery ladies loved showing you all their cakes that they decorated because of your animation & such appreciation for their talent. Kroger was one of your favorite places...probably because we were they twice a week, it seemed! You and Lindsey ate like you were a bottomless pit! Dare I say that again? Now that you know the true meaning...I won't have to worry about causing tears followed by, "I'm not a monster mom! I'm a PRINCESS!....and I DO have a bottom ...seeee!"
As much as you loved cupcakes, you also loved balloons & mirrors...it's the simple things, and never forget that! The hardest lesson for both of us, was when your balloon flew to Heaven. I think I cried along with you. Thank goodness for the Dollar Tree! There were plenty more...just a cashier that had no clue after telling you, " now don't let go or it will fly to the moon!" After giving her a questionable look, you're response was,...."no it won't silly, it will fly to Jesus & He will give it back someday when I get to heaven!" You were very curious about Heaven, but also very excited after reading the book, 'Heaven is for Real'. Thus the question, "Mom, why do people cry?! Heaven is supposed to be the best place EVER and they get to party ALLLLLLLL the time!!" You even attempted....attempted....to procastinate at bedtime by singing, imagine that. After telling you many times to go to bed, you would say, "but mom, Mimi told me that whenever I sing about Jesus, they have a party in Heaven...so, I'm giving them a party!"
I will miss your 10 minute bedtime prayers...about everything, everyone, all the animals...and another round of praying for everything, everyone and all the animals. ( "Jesus, please make the hawk at Aunt Julie's stop eating all the chipmunks, miniature gorillas & smurfs...and if he trys to, make his belly hurt because I love the animals, Thank you, Amen." )
2011 was the year that you received your "magic" cleaning apron, old home movies became your newest interest (of Julie & I ~ Her reaction, "I can't believe you and Aunt Julie were 4!...that was a loooooong time ago, because your movie doesn't speak!?!"), your love for popcorn & orange juice, freightened over getting your haircut because you were afraid of losing your strength like Samson, During hunting season realized that daddy was not hurting the bambi's, but spending a week Easter Egg hunting (wink, wink), strongly disliking the "stink bug"(the flu) & teaching Lindsey everything you knew.
So after reminicing, I just want to you know how special you are to me. I hope to spend many snow days listening to you sing about "it's rainin' snow" & " Mary Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow? With silver bell and taco shells and pretty maids all in a row" while watching your new favorite movie, Babes in Toyland.
And...as for my sweet Lindsey,
2011 was a year of 1st for you. You received many teeth, got introduced to new foods, had your very first beach vacation and became the very first alarm clock that I actually enjoyed waking up to...it went like this, "Maaaa maaaaa...are you?!?!" You crawled, walked & ran all in the blink of an eye. When you were 16 months you said the most precious words EVER..."I Love you" followed by blowing me a kiss. You were the most huggable, kissable little girl and still are.
You enjoyed going to Hailey's dance classes and became quite a little dancer yourself. Your favorite dance of all was the "Boogie Woogie" which became the answer to everything. Your faviorite food was cooked broccoli even though I'm pretty sure if I open up my vacuum there would have been a full bag of Cheerios!
You learned alot from Hailey, loved to read books & watch The Wiggles, Calliou, Olivia, Toot & Puddle and Scooby Doo, or as you would say, "Doo-Doo are you!"
You both are such special little girls and I hope to spend the next year loving and cherishing every minute I'm given with you...building more forts, making brownies & reading Goodnight Moon underneath the dining room table.
