5 years have gone by soooo fast! The past 2 weeks I have been extremely busy trying to get all of Hailey's doctor/dentist visits in, her paperwork together ~ sign, sealed, delivered....hello nausea! Wow, I didn't think sending her off to school(or getting everything prepared 3 months before) would hit me like this. Our little girl...who we just brought home from the hospital...is becoming sooo grown up...sooo fast (*tears). It's just a waiting game now to see if she gets transfered into a better school out of our district.
Anyway, all of these years, Hailey has been very healthy up until I had Lindsey...more germs shared = more sickness. I remember the 2nd time she threw up...shortly after her 4th birthday party, she had no idea what was going on! That was only the 2nd time in her life that she had a stomach bug(or as she calls it, "the stink bug")...the 1st time, she doesn't remember. Therefore, she has had less doctor visits than Lindsey, with less meds and less shots, etc. Luckily, we opted to get her shots for kindergarten last year. She didn't know what was coming and that was probably the best thing...she did rather well.
This year?! Well, that's a different story! She had a great check up and after all these years of our wonderful pediatrician who knows me very well and always is onboard with keeping things as "natural" and as possible and complimenting the girls for their healthy eating habits and their intelligence, Hailey says, "I had ice cream for breakfast." WHAT?! Umm, mommy had to intervene that conversation and alert Dr. Cummings that, that was a fib! I can't believe she tried to get away with that!
We were so relieved when we remembered that she did not need any shots this year, but only a finger prick!
Waiting in the lab with Hailey & Lindsey, her nerves started getting the best of her...which, for me, turned into a "I will never be like that in public" event! quickly! Oh yes, Hailey went to go hide in the corner and would not budge while Lindsey thought it was funny to take off running down the hallway...ugh! Mean mommy came out that day...in front of 2 other parents waiting in the waiting room, my nightmare, but what else can you do?
Counting to 3, bribing, tackling Lindsey and sticking her behind closed doors, coming back for Hailey, pulling her by the arms with her heels planted in the floor while she was crying and hollering, "I don't wanna get my finger pricked!!!"...Mommy of the year, right here. I should've sent an apology letter to Lewis Gale Medical Center...really. There's not doubt in my mind that the whole floor could hear her.
Giving up the tug of war, I picked her up and sat her on the stool, in which she actually tried to get up and run...good. grief. The nurse was so nice to watch Lindsey while I bear hugged Hailey and held her finger out. I thought she was going to throw up and was sweating so bad, her hair was wet. I finally was able to pry her from me, look at her in the face and say, "Hailey, stop crying! Listen to me...it's over!" She stopped and said, "it is?!....are you so proud of me?" Haha..sure. I think I should've got the sticker for that one.
After she calmed down, the nurse was having issues cleaning her finger (she's a bleeder) and couldn't stop her from bleeding enough to get the band aid on...Hailey glanced over...and...here we go all over again. Oh, poor Hailey. She saw the blood and started crying/screaming, saying, "all the bleed is going to get out of my body!!" A nice lady down the hall came and suggested giving her a piece of hard candy...seriously?! You want my kid to choke? Anyway, thankfully they were able to get the band aid on, gave her a handful of stickers and were probably thankful to send us on our way! Shew...I hope this is not how it's going to be everytime!
So next...the dentist.
Praying for a good visit and becoming smarter by only taking Hailey and leaving Lindsey at Mimi's(since last visit...Lindsey at the chalk in the playroom at the dentist office). Hailey actually enjoys the dentist office, all the nurses and Dr. Anderson are so good with the kids. She picked out her toothbrush and which flavor toothpaste she wanted and off to cleaning and x-rays it was. Dr. Anderson came in and talked with Hailey for a while about the importance of eating healthy and brushing 2x/day...followed by...."AND, you are doing great! NO CAVITIES!!!" Hallelujah!!
My thoughts: I hope she never has one, or they will have to sedate her!
Cavity Free Smile & 2 thumbs up!!
This deserves Sweet Frog frozen yogurt!
And a balloon...
Hailey was too busy with her 'Angry Bird' balloon, but Lindsey stopped to pose with her Olivia balloon for a quick picture.
So glad to have the doctor/dentist visits over...now onto Kindergarten...sigh.
